Shri Prem Mandir, Vrindavan was built by Shri Kripalu Parishat driven by Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj whose main ashram is in Mangarh (U.P.).
Shri Prem mandir is situated in Vrindavan near Mathura. It is 54 acre site which makes it one of the largest area of Vrindavan's Temples. The temple is dedicated to Hindu Lord Shri Krishna. The temple structure was established by spiritual guru Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj. It took 11 years to built this temple but the time duration is worth when you see the temple. The foundation stone laid on January 2001 by Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj and the inauguration ceremony took place from 15 February to 17 February 2012.
The temple was built using Italian Marble. No cement material was used to make the temple. Cut & fix stone method was used by foreign engineers to built it. When the Italian marble was brought in the Vrindavan, Engineers tried to cut it using Indian machines but Indian stone cutting machines was failed to cut the marble. Engineers sent their request to Shri Kripalu Parishat, the only solution was to bring the machines from where stone was brought. It took extra time and the result was delay. It extended the deadline. Finally the machines were brought in India and it started the work again.
Work started here on January 14, 2001. More than 800 craftsmen, artisans and specialists from various parts of the country have been toiling day and night to create a pure marble temple in the original Som Nath style. It has taken 11 years and expanses over Rs. 150 crore. 30,000 tons of Italian marble, carved with specialized KUKA robotic machines, have been used in the construction. The length of the temple is 122 feet and the width is 115 feet.
There is a short and interesting story about the temple. When Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj was young, he went to a very famous temple of Vrindavan. Shri Kripalu ji was a sage. That time he was meditating multiple days without eating anything. It was a period of austerity and stiffness for him. His clothes were torn and he was looking like beggar. When he tried to enter in the temple, the guard did not allow him. Shri Kripalu ji requested the guard that he should let him in but the guard was as hard as stone. He pushed him very hard and said very hash words to him. That day Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj prayed to Shri Radha Rani that give him enough strength and ability so he will be able to build a temple for her.
Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj forgot the incident but when the temple was built completely, Shri Radha Rani came to his dream and reminded him about the incident. She said "I have fulfilled your wish. You could forget the incident but I could not". Tears came out of the eyes of Shri Kripalu ji.
Prem Mandir is symbol of love of the Lord Shri Krishna and love for the Lord Shri Krishna. Prem Mandir has been built for holy love. The biggest Example, where all other temples of Vrindavan do not give permission to take photographs in the compound, there is no such restriction in Prem Mandir.
